On The Hunt
Our next youth event will be Saturday, September 19th at 4pm. The youth will descend upon Downtown Merton to participate in an epic scavenger hunt. Once completed, we will share a meal and study God’s Word together.
Saturday, September 19th | 4pm
We currently meet once a month to learn and grow. Every meeting is different. Sometimes it's a party. Sometimes it's a service project. Often we have deep theological conversations. 7th-12th graders from inside and outside the church are welcome to join.
Together Is Better
The church is like a body with many members. Membership in the local church is the logical implication of membership in the global Church, which comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, publicly demonstrated through baptism. Our lives are connected. We need one another. Church membership is our way of ensuring everyone who belongs to our congregation enjoys the benefits and privileges of being Grace Hill Church.
Member Meeting
If you call Grace Hill Church your home, we want you to save the date for our next member meeting, to be held on Sunday, September 20th from 12-2pm. Come ready to hear some important updates, highlight God’s grace as we see Him at work, and affirm a few initiatives. Thanks for making your church family a priority!

183 Years
Way back in 1843, Wisconsin was still just a territory and had yet to achieve statehood, Charles Dickens was busy penning his classic work the “Christmas Carol,” and the United States was only celebrating its 76th birthday. On August 31st, we will celebrate God’s faithfulness in proclaiming the name of Jesus for 183 years.
Celebrating 183 Years
We remain excited for what God is doing in Merton and beyond. It is with great joy that we are leaning into the work of the Spirit to make the name of Jesus known for many years to come!
Three Names, One Gospel Message
One consistent theme throughout its long history has been a commitment to preserve and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are grateful to God for how He has kept His people faithful to the Gospel in the past, and we earnestly desire for God to continue that work in His people here in Merton and beyond for the Glory of His great name.
Forgive
Forgiving anyone in a meaningful way is one of the hardest things a person can do. If you do not forgive, resentment and vengeance consume you. It is impossible to move past transgression without forgiveness, but few people have the resources and the tools to forgive others fully and move on with their lives. Forgiveness is an essential skill, a moral imperative, and a religious belief that cuts right to the core of what it means to be human.
Why Should I and How Can I?
In his book, Forgive, author Timothy Keller shows readers why it is so important and how to do it, explaining in detail the steps you need to take in order to move on without sacrificing either justice or your humanity.
Forgive - Timothy Keller
You can order Keller’s book online, or swing by the church bookstore and grab a copy. Find a friend or someone from church to read through the book together and share what you are learning. Or better yet, come join us at 8:30am on Saturday, August 29th at the Mill St. Cafe to discuss the book together.
From Brazil To Merton
The Ketchams will be visiting with us this week all the way from Brazil and plan to give us an update this Sunday. They will be in the States for a full year and this is one of our opportunities to spend time with them, learn more about the work God is doing in Brazil, and to encourage them in their ministry for Jesus.
The Gospel In Brazil
After worship this Sunday, the Caspers have invited the church to their home for a pool party and picnic. Swimming is not required, but encouraged! The Caspers will provide bratwurst & hot dogs. Please consider bringing along any sides you would like to contribute to the party.
Contact Pastor Andrew if you would like to have the Ketchams over for dinner while they are visiting.
Ezra Initiative
Seven men began meeting a few months ago with the mutual desire to learn and grow in their ability to preach God’s Word. The primary objective of the “Ezra Initiative” has been to learn and encourage one another to be competent preachers of God’s Word.
Aiming To Make Jesus Known
Over the past few months these men have gained a deeper appreciation for the preaching process and a renewed joy to preach His Word. They have met monthly, read various preaching resources, taught Sunday School sessions, regularly evaluated the sermons, and helped each other grow as preachers of God’s Word. Their Sermon preparation will all culminate this coming Fall when each man will be preaching a chapter from the book of Psalms.
“Preach you Christ, and Christ, and Christ, and Christ, and nothing else but Christ.” -Charles H. Spurgeon
Please continue to pray for these men as they embark on this endeavor to glorify Christ as they learn to handle His precious Word and communicate it effectively to God’s people. Pray that God would continue to raise up individuals who hunger for God’s Word and desire to preach the Gospel of Jesus boldly.
Evenings In Our Cities
Venture out into your local community for the annual “National Night Out” events happening in early August. This is one of the few moments throughout the year where our neighbors gather together for food and flair. If you’ve ever wanted to experience night life in Merton, Sussex, Hartland or Hartford, then these are the evenings to explore and engage with your neighbors.
Merton | August 4th | 6pm
Sussex | August 5th | 6pm
Hartland | August 6th | 6pm
Grab a friend from church and/or your neighbor and come see what’s happening in the community. There will be food, community representatives, and entertainment. This is a phenomenal time to interact with people from the community and remind our neighbors that Grace Hill Church is here to serve.
He Will Be
This Sunday our music team will be introducing a new song for us to proclaim the glorious grace of God. Listen, watch and sing along over the next couple days in order to prepare for our time together on Sunday morning. Thanks for making Sunday mornings a priority to be with God’s people! This is one of the many marks of our unity in the Gospel of Jesus. See you Sunday morning!
He Will Be
Words and Music by James Ferguson and Jaywan Maxwell
VERSE 1
God is faithful to His word
Even when there seems no way
Though time may pass
His memory will not fade
His promises will never fail
CHORUS
Faithful He has been, Faithful He will be
Time and time again
His Word returns complete
To His truth I cling, when the night is deep
Faithful He has been, Faithful He will be
VERSE 2
God is gracious when I doubt
He draws near though I retreat
Though I may wander
through the wilderness
He goes with me and gives me peace
CHORUS
Gracious He has been, Gracious He will be
What I don’t deserve, the Father gives to me
Where He leads my feet, I shall not want or need
Gracious He has been, gracious He will be
VERSE 3
God is worthy of my song
Countless are His awesome deeds
His mighty hand has parted raging seas
For those He loves, He has redeemed
CHORUS
Worthy He has been, Worthy He will be
Crowned in endless praise
all earth and heaven sing
Holy is the Lord who reigns in majesty
Worthy He has been, worthy He will be
BRIDGE
He is my provider
Covenant protector
All my hope is in the Lord my God
He is my sustainer
Merciful redeemer
All my hope is in the Lord my God
