“Do this in remembrance of me.”
Our Belief
On the night He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus instituted this simple meal to be observed in His churches for perpetual remembrance until He returns. This meal tangibly and visibly displays the sacrifice of Christ, the sealing of all its benefits to true believers, and their spiritual nourishment and growth in Him. This meal is a symbol of our communion with him and with one another.
In this sacrament, Christ is not offered up to his Father, nor is any real sacrifice made at all for remission of sin for the living or the dead. It is a commemoration and celebration of that one offering of Jesus on the cross, once for all.
Our Practice
At Grace Hill Church we practice “open” communion, which means our table is open and available to all professing Christians who have placed their faith in Christ.
We currently practice communion on most Sundays as a corporate response to the preached gospel of Jesus. A pastor will invite the church to make their way forward to collect the elements and return to their seats so that we may eat and drink together as one body.
