Church In Real Life
Senior Pastor
God has appointed a plurality of pastors to lead His local church. Remarkably, with few exceptions, elders are always plural in the New Testament, and the concept of a single senior (or lead) pastor is entirely foreign to Scripture. However, there remains only one reference to a pastor who is given an elevated position above all other elders - and that is found when Peter (a fellow elder) identifies Jesus as our Chief Shepherd, our senior pastor.
Jesus, Our Senior Pastor
Next week the pastors of Grace Hill (along with their wives) will be spending a few days in North Carolina for a Pastoral Leadership Summit. The purpose for their time away is to seek refreshment, renewal, encouragement and a resolve for the work that Christ has called them to in Merton. Please pray for your pastors and their wives while they are away.
From Who is your Pastor, to Who is your Savior.
Your elders’ primary desire should only and always be to help you follow Christ - not follow themselves. Grace Hill Church endeavors to establish a culture that moves far beyond the thought of: “Who is your pastor?” towards the thought: “Who is your great Savior?!” May we grow less enthralled with a certain pastor, as we become increasingly impressed by Jesus!
Ask
The Scriptures exhort us to pray earnestly and without ceasing; to pray corporately and in secret; for those who abuse and persecute us; to pray for ourselves, one another and for all people. The Bible tells us to pray.
Colossians 1:3
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.
Submit your prayer requests by clicking the “pray for me” button below. The church wants to pray with you.
On Sunday, the elders informed the congregation that following the Sunday worship services, one or more pastors will remain up front afterwards to pray for those who need it. We want to pray for you. We want to pray with you. Let’s pray.
The Birth of Hope
During the month of December we will begin a new sermon series that leads us on a search through the Scriptures for the hope we might find in the birth of a baby - a hope in the life of the one to come who would change everything, for everyone, forever.
Seth | Isaac | Samuel | John | Male Child | Jesus
These few weeks in December we will endeavor to remind ourselves of the many men and women throughout Biblical history who eagerly anticipated the birth of a baby that would come and make all things new.
Thanks
Join us on Wednesday evening, November 27th for a brief time to sing, pray and give thanks to God for the good things He has done. Afterwards, there will be tea and pie to share and enjoy with one another.
Wednesday, November 27th | 7pm
Psalm 30:4
Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.
Youth Night
Our next youth night is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th from 4-8pm at the Lindmark's house. Joe has kindly offered to coach the youth through a synchronized swimming routine in their pool (please pack swimsuits and towels). The time will also include sharing a meal together, and then continuing our study through the Sermon on the Mount.
Saturday, November 9th | 4-8pm
We currently meet once a month to learn and grow. Every meeting is different. Sometimes it's a party. Sometimes it's a service project. Often we have deep theological conversations. 7th-12th graders from inside and outside the church are welcome to join.
Sempre Reformanda
On October 31st 1517, Martin Luther famously nailed his 95 theses to the Wittenberg door, prompting a debate, and setting off a cascade of doctrinal shifts in an effort to return to the Scriptures. This movement would spread far and wide for many years and would ultimately culminate in what we now fondly refer to as the Protestant Reformation.
If you call yourself a Christian (and are not Roman Catholic), then you are Reformed, and you are Protestant. We are “Protestants” so we affirm the Five Solas of the Reformation.
Sola Scriptura
The Bible is our only infallible authority.
Sola Fide
Faith alone unites us to Christ and justifies us before God.
Sola Gratia
We are saved by the grace of God alone.
Solus Christus
Jesus is the only mediator to God.
Soli Deo Gloria
God alone saved, so God alone gets the glory.
A Quiver Full
God has blessed our church with three babies on the way! We have been praying for this blessing for many months, and we want to celebrate God’s grace in providing answer to our prayers. What joy to welcome new life into the world!
Psalm 127:3–5
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Join us as we continue to pray for God’s mercy and kindness to be upon these mother’s during their pregnancy. Ask God to extend His grace to the husbands and wives as they patiently prepare for this next season of life and the adventures that await.
Chili Bowl 2024

Things God Has Done
This past Sunday, Pastor Andrew preached through Acts 21:17-26. This passaged marked a significant transition as we now move towards the final section in the Book of Acts.
Acts 21:19–20
After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. And when they heard it, they glorified God.
We want to imitate Paul and the early disciples by frequently sharing with one another the marvelous things God has done in our lives. As we recount those things, we glorify our great Savior who never ceases to give good gifts to His children.
Let us endeavor to affirm the great stories of God’s grace and mercy that He lavishly pours out daily upon His people.
